Thursday’s Thirteen #9 I have Never...

1. I have never been on a Ferris Wheel. No reason just not had the opportunity.

2. I have never left home without some form of reading material. I either grab a book, magazine or something I printed off Internet that was interesting when I leave home anytime.

3. I have never been afraid of snakes. June Bugs, grasshoppers and spiders are at the top of my list of feared insects.

4. I have never lost my desire to be close to a bear and get to touch him. I grew up in VT and saw my first cubs by our bus stop. Then at my friend’s house that was higher up in the mountains. I even drove to my sisters in MN from TX after she had cubs in her backyard. The whole 9 days we were there we saw nothing. There is a sign entering Colorado that says “Please do not take food out of the car”. I am out there chunking cheetos hoping to see a bear.

5. I have never gotten a Tattoo. My 2 girls have one but I am not into the whole PERMANENT part of it. Plus I bet it hurts worse than people say. Kind of like LABOR PAIN.

6. I have never been a “Party Girl”. I was never into the Drinking-Smoking-Drug seen. I am a person who likes to be in control of myself and under the influence you can’t be.

7. I have never understood how people can be so mean and hateful to a child because they have a parent or parents that are “different”. Whether it be divorce-race-life style-appearance-financial class or whatever, We should be a POSITIVE INFLUENCE in a the child’s life. When I divorced after a 14 yr marriage my girls were treated differently at the private school they attended. Here I was a divorcee, low income Mom working 3 jobs to pay our bills and tuition and they still got pushed to the back of the line in the minds of those who were suppose to care and teach them.

8. I have never had any desire to go to England, Paris, France or any where fancy. There are places like Ireland, Australia, Holland and Hawaii that I would like to see. Not to mention the US sites I want to see.

9. I have never been good at letting go. I let things eat at me and keep me up all night when others have just dropped it and moved on. I over analyze the situation and play out in my mind different scenarios of how I should have handled it.

10. I have never been able to feel comfortable in crowded situations. Like 6 flags, a water park, big malls, the Fair, Airport ect.. I am get panicky and fear being separated from the ones I am with. I don’t know where or how I became this way, but I have been like this all my life.

11. I have never been able to take just one bite of cookie dough. Come on ladies be honest, who can just take ONE BITE??

12. I have never had the style and grace that Roma Downey as “Monica” on Touched By An Angel or Jennifer Love Hewitt as “Melinda” in Ghost Whisperer but I would love to be able to dress like them and be as graceful as they are.

13. I have never stuck with any “writing” type project I have started whether it be diary, journal, weight loss chart or whatever. I am on Thursday Thirteen # 9 today and so proud of myself for staying with it.

Thursday’s Thirteen #8 The Pets we have had...

1. 1965 Pixie was my first dog. She worked with my Dad, a Police Officer. She had to be put down after biting a girl who took her food bowl from her in our backyard.

2. 1972 Tanya was a German Shepherd we had growing up in Vermont. Had to give to her Breeder when we moved to Texas in 1975.

3. 1979 Lucy was a beagle mix I got from the animal shelter. Gave her away when we moved in with parents for a short time in 1981.

4. 1982 Wolf was a mixed breed dog. He was so gentle with our 2 girls. He loved going camping with us. He got loose and got hit by the milkman.

5. 1983 3 Finches we had until Michelle let them out to play with her and they flew away. The cage was hanging on the porch while I was cleaning.

6. 1985 Bear was a mixed breed son of my Dad’s Dog Octavious. Had to be put to sleep 1997 due to medical problems.

7. 1985 – 1992 With the aid of my girls Dad and my Father, we went through 2 rabbits(lasted 3yrs), 2 ducks(after 18 mo. put into pond down the road), chickens(both purchased and hatched in an incubator), several litters of piglets and puppies, hamsters, 2 mean red roosters and numerous stray dogs(we had to take to pound).

8. 1987 Nikki was our favorite of all. A Rottweiler we got at 6wks. I trained her and she was great with the kids and bear. Put down in 1999 when she went deaf and had hip dysplasia.

9. 1988 Betty and Cindy were pigs my dad got the girls. They grew up to be 500 lb. hogs. Both were taken to market.

10. 1989 Quito was a 1/2 wolf 1/2 Malamute pup given to Melissa at 7 from her uncle. He was huge. He got hit by a car in 1990 and had to be put down a month later.

11. 1990 Gold fish from the Fair. A gold and a white one. They grew too big for the 20gal aquarium that we put them in the 15’x3’ pool. Then when the liner tore we took them to a pond down the road in 1992.

12. 1996 My daughter got 2 cats. Samson and Momma Kitty. We moved in town in 1997 and Momma kitty ran away. Samson we had to give away because my new husband was allergic.

13. 2005 A Black Chihuahua Michelle brought us from a patient she had. We tried for 2 months with her but we were just not TINY indoor pet people. She went to a guy I work with.

Family, New Baby and Repair men...

Saturday Michelle, Chris and Gavin came for dinner. I made a family favorite Hamburger Casserole. Gordon had recently fixed my little processor so I put some in and made Gavin some to eat with us. He loved it. He also inhaled some cran-apple juice that I diluted for him. Then we ate "The Saucy Jane" poundcake from Janie's Cakes here in Tyler. They are so good. I love the "The Berry Jane" also.

I have a new Great Nephew. Daniel Ian was born 8-10-08 at 3:24am weighing 6 lbs. 11 oz. and he was 18" long. He has a full head of dark curly hair. This is my sister's 4th grandbaby and she is expecting the 5th in early November which is a girl.

I went to leave for work yesterday and my remote closed the door but as it lowered it just fell the rest of the way. I went on to work I called to get it fixed and they came a few hours later. It was heavy to open and then it wouldn't latch so I had to hold it up and go under it at the same time.

Thank Goodness for the Waranty..

Gordon dropped his glasses again Sunday. This time the scratches are right across the vision line. We just got them replaced July 2. I ordered the new ones and he will have to peer between the scratches for a week. They told us not to worry they will replace as often as needed. We kept Gavin Saturday while the kids went to see Dark Night. He was so much fun as usual. I took him next door to visit our neighbors Ma & Pa. They loved it so much. He loves elderly people. They don't get to see the great grandbabies much as tehy all live away. So we share. They made us honorary family members last memorial day when all 4 of their adult kids and some of their families were in town. It was so sweet.
